2020, SALUTE

A familiar light of hope shimmers in the short distance ahead as we up-shift into gear to approach the end of the beaten track we have formally known as 2020. On the inside lane, our Maserati GranTurismo Aspirato Sport Edizione crosses the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge, the bridge that often leads us through to the other side on the last day of December each year. A landmark that securely joins the north to the south and represents a momentous step towards creating a foundation of confidence for our nation’s future during Australia’s Great Depression and any further hard years after that.

Without a single cloud to interfere with the view of a flawless blue sky, it almost seems like the perfect reconciliation between mother nature and man made creation; a sports car hand-painted in Celeste Chiaro one of the most glorious colours you will ever see today. Celeste meaning Heavenly and Chiaro meaning Clear, it’s as if she knew.

Driving under the industrial steel works that flicker past the eye, we are overcome with the fascination of the drivers that surround us. The pace that was once 60kmh has decreased significantly, as fellow enthusiasts try to elongate their view time of one of the twenty-three GranTurismo Aspirato’s ever made available for both Australia and New Zealand. The unmatchable sight of the Harbour Bridge now equalled with the rare sight and sound of the ‘sharknose’ holding trident, still cruising on the inside lane.

Not only is this a creation of impeccable exterior design, the interior also holds the master-key to ultimate luxury. Prestigious Bianco coloured leather coating the inside with the finest placements of Alcantara fabric and carbon fiber accents effortlessly complete the race car feel, while the back of your head subtly rests against the stitching of the famous Maserati Trident almost acting as your own personal royal crown. This precision of comfort that has been established allows you to enjoy any style of drive whether it be a scenic grand tour or a short punchy route, the Ferrari built 4.7L 460HP engine will support you in whatever the choice.

Green lights ahead are kindly advising us to keep ourselves moving forward as we continue towards our shining savior. With our windows finally down to embrace all that is around us, we are met with an exhilarating sound of triumph from one of the last naturally aspirated V8 engines in the GranTurismo segment. At the bridges end we look back to remind ourselves we are often defined by the roads we travel upon, whilst also not forgetting to keep an eye on what is yet to come.

Respectively, we give an Italian Salute to this V8 combustible engine as Maserati places a dominate vision of our future in front of us, Electrification. And it then becomes evident that it is not just the butterflies in our stomachs aching for a victorious celebration.
